A Missouri state senator is removed has been expelled from all committee duties after commenting on a Facebook post saying that she hopes President Trump will be assassinated.

Senate Democratic Caucus leader Sen. Gina Walsh said Chappelle-Nadal is a “distraction” to senators and issued a statement saying she has been suspended from all committees.

“It is important that the Missouri Senate conducts their work without distractions. With that in mind, Sen. Chappelle-Nadal has been removed from her committee assignments. This will help to ensure the success of the Senate, and the state, going forward,” Walsh said.

Chappelle-Nadal was a part of eight committees including, veterans and military affairs, public assistance, seniors, families and children, judiciary and civil and criminal jurisprudence, government accountability, education, health and pensions, and public employee retirement.

The comment by Chappelle-Nadal provoked other lawmakers to call for her resignation. Her comment was removed shortly after, but a screenshot went viral on Twitter.

In an interview, Chappelle-Nadal said she regretted making the comment, she also apologized, but wouldn’t resign.

Governor Eric Greitens stated that he would vote to remove Chappelle-Nadal from office.

Chappelle-Nadal has one year left on her term, and will not be able to run for re-election next year due to term limits.
